What philodendron has new leaves that emerge coppery pink before turning deep green? Philodendron ‘Summer Glory’ is a striking hybrid prized for its changing foliage colors, glossy mature leaves, and beautiful pink veining.

New leaves unfurl in warm shades of copper, bronze, and reddish pink before gradually maturing into rich, glossy green. Young foliage also displays prominent pink veins and reddish undersides, creating a beautiful contrast as the plant develops.

    A Little About This Plant

Philodendron ‘Summer Glory’ was developed through a controlled cross in Florida by plant breeder LariAnn Garner in 2016. Its parentage includes an unnamed Bob McColley Philodendron hybrid and Philodendron gloriosum. It was selected for its distinctive foliage coloration, durability, and vigorous growth.

    A Little-Known Fact

The color transformation is one of this hybrid's most distinctive features. Its newest leaves emerge reddish bronze, then gradually mature into dark green foliage. The plant also produces striking red cataphylls, the protective coverings surrounding emerging leaves.

    Plant Care Instructions and Recommendations

Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal for maintaining healthy growth and encouraging colorful new foliage. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves.

Water: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry before watering. Water thoroughly until excess drains from the bottom, then allow the soil to partially dry again. A moisture meter helps check deeper soil and reduces guesswork, especially in larger pots.
